A longstanding South Oxhey councillor has lost her seat to a Tory by just ten votes.
Nina Spellen was ousted from the Three Rivers seat of Ashridge by Conservative Graham Denman.
He secured 241 votes to her 231.
South Oxhey is typically viewed as a Labour heartland.
However the party has suffered losses across the country, in what many believe is an indication of dissatisfaction with Tony Blair and the Iraq war.
