A Staffordshire bull terrier attacked and killed another dog in a park, it has been alleged.
Ian Brown, 51, of Gaddesden Crescent, Watford, appeared at Hemel Hempstead Magistrates Court charged with allowing his dog to run out of control in a public space.
It is alleged Brown's pet killed a Yorkshire terrier poodle cross in Garston Park on July 25, after the defendant let it off its lead.
Brown denies the allegation and a further charge of having an unmuzzled ferocious dog was dropped by Watford Borough Council.
The case was adjourned until Friday, May 11, for legal argument and to set a trial date.
