A technology consultant from Rickmansworth cycled almost 500km across Namibia to raise more than £3,200 for his favourite charity.
Gordon Eddie, of Dover Way, undertook the gruelling challenge with 25 others to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS).
The 27-year-old man, who was born deaf, is one of 1,500 people who have signed up to an NDCS challenge since 1997.
The six day cycle took the group across Damaraland, one of the oldest deserts in Namibia.
He said: "Last September I had heart surgery and really needed a goal to work towards, so I decided to sign up to the cycle challenge.
"The trip was a real adventure - although the heat and the hills were really tricky sometimes, I met some incredible people, and saw some spectacular desert scenery in Namibia."
The money raised from the challenges that NDCS set goes towards helping deaf children and their families.
Mr Eddie added: "I have trained hard and pleased to say I successfully completed the challenge and raised as much money as possible to ensure a world without barriers for every deaf child."
