A POLICE helicopter was called out yesterday afternoon to track three suspected burglars who ran off after their get away car was involved in a road accident in Bushey.
At 1.40pm, officers were called to an alleged burglary of the home of an 81-year-old woman, near the lower High Street in Watford.
After ransacking the house the burglars left with a small amount of cash and personal papers - including a rent card and council tax card.
Then shortly after, at 1.41pm, police were called to a collision between two vehicles - a blue Toyota Carina and a silver Vauxhall Astra - on Bushey Grove Road, Bushey.
Three men in the Carina ran off after the accident and police believe they may be the burglars involved in the earlier incident.
All three men are white and in their early twenties. One is thought to be around 5ft 8ins tall, while the other are two slightly shorter.
One of the men was wearing a light blue rugby shirt, and another was wearing a dark jacket. It is believed one of the suspects suffered a minor injury from the collision.
The driver of the Astra suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to Watford General Hospital as a precaution.
DC Brian Hopkins commented: "Thankfully no one was seriously injured in either incident, although both parties clearly suffered an unpleasant experience.
"We believe that the burglary and collision today may well be linked, and would like to speak to anyone who has any information that could help our enquiry."
If anyone has any information on the burglary or was in the area at the time of the collision, please contact Brian on 01923 472546.
