Dozens of motorists in South Oxhey were stopped by police last week as part of a scheme to raise awareness of car theft.
Officers from South Oxhey Neighbourhood Team working with British Transport Police pulled about 60 drivers on Thursday to warn them of the dangers of leaving valuables visible in cars.
"The idea was to raise awareness of people leaving things such as satellite navigation systems in their cars which are very tempting to opportunist thieves," Sergeant Craig Flint from the South Oxhey Neighbourhood Team said.
"The operation was very well received by the South Oxhey community and we hope to see a reduction in the number of thefts from vehicles in this area as a result."
Speeding drivers and those driving illegally were also caught out during the operation on Prestwick Road. Police issued a court summons to a motorist believed to be carrying an insecure load as well as two £30 fixed penalty notices.
Similar operations on a larger scale will be carried out regularly over the coming weeks.
