A SERIES of music events in 2007 will raise money for a disabled youngster from Abbots Langley.
Sian Moorcroft, three, has intermediate (II) spinal muscular atrophy - a condition that weakens her muscles so she is unable to stand or walk.
As a result, she needs expensive equipment to make her life, and her parents', much easier and Garston pub Hammer in Hand has nominated her as their worthy cause for the year.
A cheque for £400 has already been presented to Sian by landlord Dermot Cribbin and licensee Carol Goodman from the pub in Ganders Ash, which is the amount of their advanced ticket sales for the first gig featuring Nick Parsons on Friday, March 9.
Money for Sian will also be raised through raffles, quiz nights and regular football events organised by the pub's two Sunday League teams.
Sian's mum Emma is raising money for a new bathroom suite, designed to give full independence to Sian, and she has already had a donation for a new toilet from famous couple David and Victoria Beckham.
Emma said: "We're over the moon that people want to do something for Sian.
"It's fantastic and after all."
In March, doctors will start looking at how to correct Sian's spine, with the most likely option an operation later this year.
Hammer in Hand will hold ten events this year to raise money for Sian. For more information telephone 01923 676787
