A new allotment and playground have been opened at a Bushey primary school.
Pupils, teachers and parents turned out last Thursday to cut the ribbon on a new environment area at Bournehall Primary School, in Bournehall Avenue, and it is hoped the new facilities will assist students' learning and offer greater stimulation during playtimes.
The celebrations marked the completion of a £7,000 project at the school - money that was acquired as part of the £3m Supergrounds programme.
The scheme was developed by NatWest bank to strengthen ties between staff and their communities and saw workers nominate schools in their local areas.
Bournehall School became involved in the programme through Jill Hammond, who is a parent at the school and works for NatWest, and she said the money has helped turn the school's "dream into a reality".
Jill said: "As a parent and a past PTA member I know what a difference a playground like this makes to the lives of the children."
Elaine Sadler, headteacher at the school, added: "Our new environmental area is fantastic and it really does allow the children to learn while they play.
"We are so pleased to have Jill Hammond as a parent, as her commitment to the school is fantastic and helping us will ensure that she has left us a legacy for the future."
