Identical twins from a Watford school are among 50 students nationwide to be awarded gold medals by The Mathematical Association.
Beuran and Prajish Kannan, who attend Knutsford School, have been recognised as two of the best young mathematicians in the UK after taking part in this year’s Primary Mathematics Challenge, a test with multiple-choice problems taken by the top 60 per cent of pupils in Years 5 and 6 in England and Wales.
Lesley Jones from The Mathematical Association said: "We would like to offer out congratulations to Beuran and Prajish and all the pupils that participated. We received a large number of entries which reflects a real appetite for solving maths problems and puzzles.
"We always try to make the questions interesting and accessible, while giving pupils an opportunity to apply fundamental maths skills.
"It is great to be able to acknowledge brilliant young minds in the UK and nurture the future mathematicians."
