A LOCAL residents' group has vowed to make sure commuters using Bushey Station are getting value for money.
After a recent survey of train stations found that Bushey Station was the third most vandalised in the country, the Oxhey Village Environment Group (OVEG) has decided to canvas local opinion to ensure that services offered at the station match what commuters pay for.
Andrew Filer, chairman of OVEG, said that although he thought the service provided by the ticket office staff is "truly excellent", he felt that money spent on catching fare dodgers could be better used to provide shelters and improving trains.
He said: "Over the last few months Silverlink appear not to care about customer care and have instead installed yellow coated teams to check tickets and prevent people walking through the station.
"They are happy to pay for these yellow coats but not pay for shelters for the 2,000 or more commuters on platform six."
OVEG will be posting flyers around Bushey and Oxhey, while anyone who wants to offer their opinion on services at the station can telephone Andrew on Chair@oveg.net.
