Watford shoppers did a double take yesterday (Monday) when they came face to face with a giant daffodil.
Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraisers Fiona Andrew and Maria Griffin donned Daffy' the Daffodil costume and daffodil hats to launch the charity's annual Great Daffodil Appeal.
The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie Cancer Care's biggest annual fundraising campaign.
On Daffodil Day, Saturday March 3, the charity hopes to raise £50,000 in Hertfordshire and South Essex when hundreds of volunteers, staff and Marie Curie Nurses step out to invite local people to make a donation and take on the charity's famous bright daffodil pins home.
To reach this target Marie Curie Cancer Care needs help and is appealing for people in south west Hertfordshire to join the team.
Maria said: "Volunteering is easy, sociable and fun to do and by getting involved you will be helping terminally ill cancer patients to have the choice to be cared for by a Marie Curie Nurse at home. On average just two hours handing out daffodils in exchange for a suggested £1 donation will raise enough money to pay for a whole night of nursing care from a Marie Curie Nurse."
Marie Curie Cancer Care's fundraisers are always on the lookout for volunteers to help with the Great Daffodil Appeal. For further information about the Appeal or to find out how you can help locally please call Maria Griffin on 01920 468956 or visit their website
