RESIDENTS who vowed to get fit in 2007 have just a few days left to take advantage of a council-run promotion.

Half price membership at two Watford gyms up until February 12.

Part of a Watford Borough Council New Year's fitness promotion, more than 220 people have so far taken advantage of the offer and joined either Westfield's Community Sports Centre in Tolpits Lane or the Bill Everett Community Centre (BECC), in Leggatts Way.

Mary Gotts, who was a regular at Watford Leisure Centre, in Woodside, before it closed last year, said: "I use the gym at the BECC about three or four times a week, and go to the spinning classes.

"There are lots of other classes I am interested in, and it's nice to have a pool within the same complex.

"I enjoy the exercise and to have three months at half price is a great deal."

People who sign up will get three months membership at half price, with no joining fee on a basis of month to month commitment.

Membership includes unlimited use of fitness classes, bodyfit gym, toning tables, group cycle classes and swimming at the BECC.
