Do you love ancient maps? Are you passionate about history from the 18th Century to the present day?
If so, Watford Library wants your help to preserve Hertfordshire’s compelling heritage.
Following the success of a similar project at St Albans Library, Watford Central Library will soon be undertaking a project to conserve its collection of maps dating from the age of war and enlightenment to the development of the railway industry and the modern urban age.
The library is looking for volunteers who share this passion for Hertfordshire’s antiquated and fascinating past. Volunteers will be involved in an intellectually stimulating group conservation project re-packaging and protecting Watford’s extensive map collection.
- The open afternoon takes place at Watford Central Library, Hempstead Road, Watford, on Monday, September 1, from 1pm to 5pm. Details: 0300 123 4049, email: libraries.information@hertfordshire.gov.uk with the email subject line Watford Map Preservation Volunteers.
