West End show tunes will be out in force at The Watersmeet Theatre next week as Harrow Light Opera Company (HLOC) presents West End Blockbusters, a showcase of songs from Theatreland’s most successful productions, including The Lion King, Cats, Chicago, Miss Saigon, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.
The main director for the show is Ian Parrott with Rob Wicks as musical director, but this generous pair have also invited experienced and aspiring directors and choreographers to help out and take over the production of one or two numbers each.
Hannah Farrer, 21, of Hazelwood Road, Croxley Green, sings I Don’t Know How to Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar in the show.
Studying musical theatre at Bath Spa University, Hannah says: “I first got involved in theatre when I was at school, when I had a part in The Sound of Music. I have been in The Witches of Eastwick, Anything Goes and Guys and Dolls with HLOC, and was in Oliver!, A Chorus Line and One Enchanted Evening with other local groups.
“The song I will be singing in West End Blockbusters allows me to explore the different feelings of love and all the emotions that come with it, and being the age that I am, I feel that I can relate to it and hope to do the song justice.”
West End Blockbusters II runs at Watersmeet Theatre, High Street, Rickmansworth, from October 14-16 at 7.45pm. Details: 01923 711063, www.watersmeet.co.uk
