Male voice choirs may be more common in Wales than in this neck of the woods but that’s all soon to change as Buckinghamshire’s premier a cappella group, Knights of Harmony, comes to the Pump House Theatre, Watford on Saturday, October 25.

The company started in Chesham, under the name of the Buckaneers, back in 1975. In 1989, the chorus moved to Hemel Hempstead, changing its name to The Highwaymen. After a further seven years, the chorus returned to Chesham, this time under the Knights of Harmony banner.

In whatever guise, the members of the choir have consistently reached the top tier in local and national competitions.

Currently, the chorus has more than 40 singers but, as always, it is actively recruiting new members, especially in the lower bass range.

Watford Observer readers will, no doubt be pleased to learn that reporter Alex Hill will be making his debut with the group on the night.

Supporting Knights of Harmony at the Pump House will be a male quartet of unaccompanied singers, Friends & Neighbours and also on the bill are two popular supporting acts. Beth Fairweather will appear as a solo vocalist, although she is also an expert dancer and graduate from Liverpool Performing Arts Institute.

Finally, Knights of Harmony shares the stage with Watford pop idol Ross O’Reilly, who has performed in many countries but is a local lad through and through and has written an album of songs about his home town. His CD release, These Four Walls, is available now.

Tickets: £8-£10 01923 243496.
