Don't Leave Me This Way sang Sarah-Jane Morris with The Communards and now the rock, blues, jazz and soul diva is coming back with a retrospective of her music career at The Old Town Hall.
Sarah has produced 11 soul-driven solo albums and recently released a stunning co-written and co-produced album entitled Where it hurts. The songs deal with the end of her 22-year marriage, as well as issues such as the Burma Regime, refugees and climate change.
Her one-woman show was co-written with Michael Crompton (Silent Witness) with Dominic Miller accompanying on guitar. It includes stories and songs from her childhood through to her collaboration on the song Coal Not Dole with Matt Fox (Happy End) and Kay Sutcliffe for the miners’ strike, working with The Communards and beyond.
Sarah Jane Morris comes to The Old Town Hall Theatre, High Street, Hemel Hempstead on Saturday, October 2 at 8pm. Details: 01442 228091, www.oldtownhall.co.uk
