I tasted Watford's newest churros stand to see if it's worth treating your sweetheart to this Valentine’s Day.
Love Churros opened its reflective food-truck in atria Watford last month and with a bright neon sign above, you really can’t miss it.
In the spot previously occupied by the Churros Mexicanos, it serves a range of doughy treats, from regular churros and mini pancakes to giant churros filled with Nutella, dulce de leche caramel, or Biscoff sauce.
The company bills the filled churros as the main attraction as each location features seven large pumps used to inject them with the sweet sauces.
With Valentine’s Day in mind, I chose the Love Box which includes three loops of the Spanish sweet treat.
For these, the workers catch the dough as it falls and bring the ends together to create a neat loop before frying.

To top them off, I went for Nutella and crushed nuts, although you can also choose from Biscoff cookies, Kinder chocolate or white chocolate, and Oreo biscuits.
Nobody wants a soggy churro and for me, the outside texture of these was perfect, with a crispy, golden-brown exterior.
But on the inside, however, I felt the dough was a bit heavy and could have been better if they were fried for just a little longer.
The serving of Nutella was certainly generous and if that’s your thing, you won’t be left wanting, but it also made the dessert extremely messy to eat.
In that sense, I was glad I went for the crushed nuts as it added an element of crunch that cut through the thick sauce.
For a first date, I would perhaps advise you to stick to a slightly tidier dessert, due to the dangerous amount of Nutella, Biscoff and caramel sauce that’s on offer at Love Churros.
But if you’re not worried about getting a little messy, then the Lovebox is a good option for a sweet treat for you and your partner while out shopping in Watford.
