A historic farm is to appear on the BBC's Countryfile programme this weekend, with Woodoaks Farm in Maple Cross set to be put under the spotlight.

A trailer was broadcast at the end of last night's (November 24) episode, revealing that the popular programme will be visiting Hertfordshire this Sunday (December 1).

The synopsis reads: "John Craven and Margherita Taylor explore Woodoaks Farm in Hertfordshire, where efforts are under way to restore nature’s balance and reconnect people with farming."

The episode will see the pair examine the farm's rural heritage and find out about its vision for the future.

John will also speak to a historian who has unearthed the diary of a farmer from 150 years ago, finding out about the wisdom contained in its pages.

Meanwhile, Margherita will meet the farm's community, including volunteers and bird enthusiasts.

Responding to the reveal in a post on social media, the farm said: "You might have heard the whisper... now you can hear it from the horse's mouth: Woodoaks Farm is going to be featured on the BBC's Countryfile and we are just a little bit excited!"

The farm was donated to the Soil Association in 2020, and previously appeared on the programme in 2021.

The episode will air on BBC One at 5.20pm on Sunday, December 1.
