Gymgoers will be able to take advantage of a £500,000 boost in equipment after a 12-day closure next month.
Everyone Active’s gym at William Penn Leisure Centre, in Shepherds Lane, Rickmansworth, will be shut from December 9 until December 21 while it is refurbished.
Cardio equipment including treadmills, exercise bikes, star climbers, cross-trainers and rowing machines will be installed as well as new free weights, cable machines, plate-loaded resistance machines, specialist equipment, and more power racks.
It will also be redecorated with a contemporary décor, modern lighting, and new flooring while a relaxation zone with massage guns will be created.
The cycling studio will also be upgraded with new Keiser bikes.
Everyone Active contract manager John Sewell said: “William Penn Leisure Centre is an integral part of our community and we’re excited to move forward with this transformation.
"The group cycling studio refurbishment is now complete, and we're currently upgrading the two group exercise studios.
“These improvements will help us keep up with growing demand and open up more opportunities for local residents to be active.
“We know our members are eager for these changes, and we believe this investment will provide them a more dynamic and inspiring space to pursue their fitness goals."
The rest of the facility will be unaffected by the closure, with the group exercise classes and pool continuing to operate.

During this time, members will also be able to use Everyone Active’s other leisure centres, including South Oxhey Leisure Centre, Watford Leisure Centre – Central, Watford Woodside, Chilterns Lifestyle Centre, and Chalfont Leisure Centre.
Three Rivers District councillor Chris Lloyd, who is responsible for leisure in the area, said: “Supporting our residents’ health is key, and that is why I am delighted to see even more investment into William Penn Leisure Centre, which will continue to help our residents be happy, fit and healthy.
“The leisure centre has seen significant investment in such a short time not only to expand and enhance its fitness offering but also to help decarbonise the building by adding new solar panels, electric vehicle charge points and energy-saving LED lights.”
