A Watford musician has released a new EP dedicated to those who have experienced "profound challenges of displacement" and explores the existential struggles that arise from being uprooted.

Described as a "raw, soul-searching exploration of migration, identity, and self-reinvention," Johnny Murray's collection of tracks is titled Spoken Words Against Ionut Murariu.

Five spoken-word tracks are featured on the EP in total, blending human vocals with those generated by artificial intelligence.

Murray is a Watford-based artist, songwriter, and producer who bills himself as "blending digital production with soulful storytelling".

Among his production credits is Out of This World, which was produced for artist Lori and features a single that was mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

Murray's inspirations include Eminem, Peter Gabriel, Daft Punk, Mark Knopfler, and J Ivy.

A spokesperson for the artist added: "Fusing elements of spoken word, hip-hop, soul, rap, and R&B, Johnny creates a genre-spanning sound that’s both innovative and deeply emotive.

"His work combines live instruments with electronic textures, human vocals, and even AI text-to-speech, which results in a range of immersive soundscapes that explore themes of identity, resilience, and human connection."
