Works to bring a Watford Tesco into the future have been submitted to Watford Borough Council.
Solivus has made an application on behalf of Tesco Extra at 239-241 Lower High Street, for the installation of a lightweight solar panel system.
Under the plans, 746 solar panels will be built on the flat areas of the store's roof and the entire system will be the size of 387kWp.

According to the planning statement, the panels will be adhered flat (no incline) against the existing roof membrane using industrial adhesive.
"The panel design, specification and layout has been carefully considered to minimise any impact on the surrounding areas and none of the equipment will come within 1m of the edge of the roof or protrude more than 1m past the flat roof surface," the statement added.
