Parkgoers have shown “unequivocal support” for replacing a café but responses on where to move it are more split.
Hertsmere Borough Council is looking at allocating just over £1m to improve King George Recreation Ground, in Chiltern Avenue, Bushey, after its splash park became a regular source of complaints over the summer due to its unreliability while the café was revealed to suffer from structural issues.
Councillors will discuss approving the significant boost in funding for the park at a meeting on Wednesday (November 20) and a document attached to the agenda outlines the responses to a consultation with residents which will inform what changes are made.
Running from July to September, it attracted 550 completed responses and more than 12,000 individual comments.

There was apparently “unequivocal support” for knocking down the café and building a replacement, with 195 responses in favour of the existing location, 123 favouring a new spot by the splash park, and 103 for a new location by the park entrance.
A separate village hall style meeting on October 22 apparently produced consensus for a new café in the vicinity of the existing one.
Residents were also asked if they wanted the unreliable splash park demolished, but 79 per cent of 399 responses instead just wanted it to be made more reliable at the existing location.
