The Watford Rotary Young Chef competition crowned its winner at West Herts College on Saturday.

Jacob Levy, aged 14, impressed judges with his marbled cod with avocado puree, sesame herb salad and pickled vegetables, and fresh fruit dessert.

Jacob beat a range of fellow contestants aged from 11 to 18.

Dishes were judged on taste, presentation, and cost, as well as the chef's ability to cook the meal within the time allocated.

Watford Rotary wishes to thank the head of West Herts College's catering school, Andy Wakeford; Mr Wakeford's team; and Subway Watford, which sponsored the event.

Jacob was rewarded with the top prize: a free course at West Herts College's catering school, and an experience day at Subway Watford.

All participants received a certificate of participation and a goody bag containing two cookery books and a £10 voucher to spend anywhere in the atria Watford shopping centre.
