The branch of a popular restaurant chain in Watford has been given a clean bill of health after a food hygiene inspection.

Tim Hortons near The Dome roundabout scooped a ‘very good’ 5/5 rating following an inspection on October 28, with the result published this week.

The coffee house and restaurant chain, which opened locally in November 2022, was given a ‘very good’ rating for the hygienic food handling and management of food safety categories.

Cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘good’.

It means that of Watford's 208 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 147 (71%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

Tim Hortons was granted permission to open 24/7 following a council hearing at the end of last year, which was triggered by a neighbour and GP objecting amid extra litter and noise fears.

Regional operations manager Amrit Singh said at the time the 24-hour opening would provide food for people who work nights and employment for local people.
