Gail’s has confirmed the opening date for its upcoming Watford High Street bakery.

Earlier this month, Watford Borough Council approved the chain’s planning applications for permission to turn a former clothing store into its first location in the town.

After revealing that it was aiming to open before the beginning of November last week, it has now shared the exact date…this time next week.

The webpage for the location says: “We will open our neighbourhood bakery in Watford on October 24, 2024.

“Serving Gail's artisan sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches, and cakes alongside our specialty house blend coffee.”

Floorplans attached to the planning application suggested that the unit will have 18 seats for eating-in and fixtures installed for a typical bakery set-up.

The unit's most recent occupier, Diva, which sold low-cost womenswear, closed on August 2 having only started trading in February.

It opened after Moss Bros Watford moved from the location to atria Watford.
