It's not too late to sign up to take part in a charity walk held in memory of Watford's greatest ever manager Graham Taylor.

The Taylor Trek, organised by the Hornets' Community Sports & Education Trust and hosted in partnership with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice, takes place on Sunday.

Participants will trek around Watford and surrounding areas in the event sponsored by Mercer & Hole and Abbey Roofing, crossing the pitch-side finish line inside Vicarage Road Stadium.

The trek has three routes of varying lengths, all tracing footpaths and bridleways past key points of the late manager and former trust patron's Hornets’ history, such as Cassiobury Park, Abbots Langley, and Kings Langley.

The challenge route is 18.8 miles, the medium route is 8.3 miles, and the family route is 3.3 miles.

Each path is primarily pavement, gravel, and hard-packed earth.

Watford FC supporters, families, and charity beneficiaries will be joined by trust and club staff on the Sunday event.

Former Hornets player Steve Palmer, Watford FC’s under-18s, and the mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, will also be taking part.

Members of the Taylor family will be at the finish line to distribute official medals, provided by Watford’s Sports and Trophies.

Free refreshments will be available at the start and finish of all routes, with additional refreshment stations at Meriden Community Centre and Kings Langley Cricket Club (challenge only) for those on the more difficult routes.

Wenzels have provided sandwiches, sausage rolls, and donuts, while ASDA Watford have contributed water and energy bars.

A new year of The Taylor Trek means a brand-new shirt, inspired by the Watford FC home shirt.

These will be given to all trekkers who raise a minimum of £25, or they can be bought when signing up to The Taylor Trek online.

Shirts will also be on sale at the registration desk on event day.

There has been plenty of support for this year’s Taylor Trek, including messages from the Hornets squad and head coach Tom Cleverley, who previously took part in the walk.

Former player Christian Kabasele also sent in a message of support.

The event is not yet fully booked, and people who are interested can still sign up at register.enthuse.com/ps/event/TheTaylorTrek2024.
