An event promoting health, safety and fun within the community will take place in Watford next week.

The inaugural Watford Town Centre Wellbeing Day is set to celebrate Emergency Services Day, World First Aid Day, and National Fitness Day all in one.

Organised by Watford Town Centre BID, the event will take place on Saturday, September 14, between 10am and 2pm across The Parade.

With a host of activities ranging from first aid to fitness sessions available, visitors can expect plenty from the day out including interacting with paramedics, mini-golf, and even the chance to sit in a fire engine.

Emergency Services Day on September 9 is a day of acknowledgement towards the heroic men and women of the NHS and emergency services.

World First Aid Day, following on September 14 was introduced to raise public awareness of life-saving skills.

National Fitness Day on September 18 aims to inspire millions every year to incorporate physical activity into their lifestyles.

Kara Mesiano, Watford Town Centre BID’s manager, said: "We are excited to introduce a brand-new event to our town which focuses on wellbeing and community.

"Herts Police, Watford Fire Station and Watford paramedics are all fundamental to our local area, and we’re thankful that they will be present at our event to educate locals on the services they provide to our community.

"As well as celebrating Emergency Services Day and World First Aid Day, we’ve also included National Fitness Day in our event so that we can have fun outdoor activities for the public to get involved with.

"Fitness4Less, NRG Gym, Puttshack and Inhale Pole all have sessions for your friends and family to enjoy in between shopping, eating and drinking in our wonderful town."

Non-profit organisations and charities will also be at the event, allowing residents the opportunity to learn about their support and the work they do within the community.

A spokesperson for the event added: "We invite you to bring friends and family to pop along to The Parade to have some fun whilst learning more about the many aspects that go into keeping a community safe, healthy and happy."
