One of the UK’s biggest bakery chains has confirmed it will be opening in Watford later this year.
Gail’s signs have been put in the windows of the former Moss Bros and DIVA unit at the corner of High Street and Market Street.
The brand submitted two planning applications for the site last week, which showed how it would transform the unit from a clothes store into a bakery with 18 seats for customers eating in.
- Gail's to open in former Watford High Street Diva location
- Plans for 129 flats in five-storey blocks trigger 70 objections
- Two-bedroom home to be turned into six-person HMO under new proposal
Despite this, until today (August 22) it had not officially confirmed it would be opening in Watford.
This morning, a spokesperson said that Gail's looks forward to “joining the community in Watford later this year”.
They added that no opening date has been confirmed at this point.
The chain is known for its artisan sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches, and cakes - alongside speciality house blend coffee.
DIVA, which sold low-cost womenswear, closed on August 2 having only started trading at the unit in February.
