Diners, shoppers, and kids can expect these six businesses to open soon in Watford.
Since the last time the Watford Observer rounded up the businesses expected to open in and around the town, most of them have done so while new brands have announced or indicated that they are coming too.
They include an activity centre, cafe, shop, takeaway, and restaurants.
Take a look at the list below:
Flip Out
Flip Out is planning to remodel the 33,000-square-foot basement of atria Watford’s former John Lewis ahead of a planned opening later this year.
The multimillion pound venue will feature a variety of attractions for children and families to enjoy including a large 'Ninja Playground', high-tech dodgems, roller skating rink, donut slides, trampolines and a “huge” inflatable area.
Black Sheep Coffee
Also atria Watford-bound, Black Sheep Coffee recently added a Watford location to its official list of “coming soon” branches.
The chain is apparently eyeing unit 26A for the soon-to-open coffee shop, which has been advertised by hoarding in the centre since late last year.
Nando’s
More than a year on from first announcing it would open in the former Chiquito unit at Woodside Leisure Park, Nando’s has confirmed it will open the ‘Nando’s Watford – Garston’ branch on Tuesday, August 27.
The peri-peri chicken chain will be joining Starbucks in the unit, which has been divided in two since Chiquito closed.
B&M
B&M will be moving into part of the former John Lewis unit at atria Watford “soon” according to hoarding it has put up, but no opening date has been confirmed.
The business applied for a premises licence which would allow it to sell alcohol at the location last week, indicating progress is being made to get ready for the launch.
The existing store on the high street will not be closing.
Tawa
Valley Pizza's façade in St Albans Road has been repainted and replaced with a sign for a new restaurant called Tawa.
Details of exactly what sort of restaurant will be opening remain unclear, but there has been speculation that it could be an Indian restaurant as a “tawa” is an iron pan used for cooking flatbreads in South Asian cuisine.
Subway
It appears likely that Subway will be the business occupying the main space when the former McDonald’s unit in The Parade is divided up.
Plans to split it into two were approved this week, after being submitted by an applicant based at the existing Watford town centre Subway, in King Street.
Planning documents specified that the unit would likely be occupied by a sandwich shop.
