Permission has been granted for a popular pub to significantly expand its beer garden.
The Villiers Arms, at 108 Villiers Road, Oxhey, applied to incorporate most of a neighbouring home's back garden into its space and change the use class for that land on June 11.
Watford Borough Council considered the application and decided it was acceptable this week, after 11 comments in support and one objection from members of the public.

- Five great beer gardens in and around Watford for summer
- Avabar to open in former The Horns as photos show new look
The objection came from a neighbour who worried that the pub’s previously stated plans to hold music events, alongside the extension, would cause disturbance for nearby properties.
Supporters said they had never had any issues with the pub, which many described as a vital part of the local community, and welcomed the extra space.
Judging the retrospective application, council officers noted that Environmental Health had received no complaints from the premises since 2017. The sites directly adjacent to the garden both responded in support.
Designs attached to the application show six additional tables for seating.
