Another business in the building Pryzm once occupied has announced it will shut at the end of its lease.

Laser Planet Watford shared an message via its social media pages yesterday (July 29), confirming that it is set to close after 12 years operating in the town.

The laser tag centre occupies the unit between Pryzm and Iceland, which have both closed in the past nine months, in Albert Road South, and was coming to the end of its lease.

In its announcement, the business said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came to play with us - we’ve had a blast hosting friends, families, birthdays, and gatherings of all kinds.

“We’ll still be hosting games until 5pm, Sunday, August 18, so if you’d like to come in for one last game please join us before then.”

In July last year, the landlord submitted a planning application seeking to establish whether a wide-ranging class of future commercial uses (class e) would be allowed at the Laser Planet unit without constituting development. This was approved a month later.

Laser Planet Watford, alongside Pryzm, Iceland, Steinbeck & Shaw, two estate agents, and a beauty salon, would have been turned into a 147-home development with two ground floor retail units if an earlier planning application had not been blocked by Watford Borough Council in July 2022.
