Watford’s Notting Hill-inspired carnival is back for another year as it establishes itself as a fixture of the town’s summer calendar.

This year’s Watford Cultural Carnival will return to Radlett Road Playing Field on Saturday, August 3, from 10am.

It was set up by Jomo Oparah, the chief executive of events management company Mojo Fusion, and is all about promoting cultural interaction, showcasing the area’s diverse heritage, and boosting local businesses.

The 2022 event was the first carnival in the town since the 90s and it grew for the second year by offering more entertainment for kids and boosting the family feel.

Mr Oparah said: “We’ve had really good feedback, we were out promoting it on the streets last week and there was a lot of energy for it, more than we’ve had before as this is a community event in its third year running so a lot of people are really looking forward to it.”

This year there will be more acts and bigger names, including DJ M2K, Samba de Rainha, Naxis DC, Vynz Sheddie, and Taz Hypno. Many of the acts have previously performed at Notting Hill Carnival – which Watford's carnival is trying to emulate.

Tickets cost £2.50 but children can attend for free.
