A pub landlord has handed back the keys after they were taken to court over multiple complaints of antisocial behaviour.
The Oaks Turkish Kitchen in West Hyde, Rickmansworth, was forced to shut its doors temporarily after it was served with a temporary closure notice for nuisance or disorder on June 18.
The enforcement action by Three Rivers District Council came just weeks after the pub, formerly 'The Oaks', reopened on May 31 under new management.
The pub landlord contested TRDC's application for a longer-term closure, but court files show their appeal was dismissed at St Albans Magistrates’ Court last Friday, July 19, after they gave up the lease.
A Three Rivers District Council spokesperson said: “The lease of the premises had been forfeited by the former landlord and the licensing department is currently considering a transfer application from Stonegate (the owner).
“TRDC had applied for a closure order, owing to multiple police reports of ASB largely due to poor management. The council agreed to withdraw its application once the owners forfeited the licence of the premises.”
Hertfordshire Police said they attended the pub on two occasions since the reopening in May.
On Saturday, June 1, officers were called to reports of a disturbance inside the premises at around 2am, but no arrests were made.

Then on Thursday, June 13, police were called at around 11.47am to concern for the welfare of a woman. Officers attended to ensure everything was in order and no arrests were made.
The TRDC spokesperson confirmed The Oaks will remain shut until the transfer has been completed and a designated premises supervisor is appointed as required by law.
The pub has yet to announce the closure after its last Facebook post on July 4 told customers it was contesting an “allegation of disorder” which led to the temporary closure.
“We aim to reopen soon and look forward to welcoming you back with our usual warm and friendly hospitality,” the post added.
The district council’s licensing register shows that an application to transfer control to Social Cellar (Gamma) Ltd, a pubs and bars company registered in Solihull, is currently pending consideration.
