A school marked its 70th anniversary with festivities including music and funfair rides when it staged its Party on the Hill.

While the morning weather was disappointing, students, families and alumni attended the event at Rickmansworth School, particularly as the skies started to clear up.

The gathering was an opportunity for former schoolmates to reunite, as well as to see how the school has changed since their time as pupils.

Music acts entertained the crowd throughout the day, including the school's own brass ensemble and Plested, a Rickmansworth School graduate who has gone on to create a career for himself as a singer-songwriter and work with artists including Lewis Capaldi and Little Mix.

The event on July 6 also witnessed an enthusiastic performance by charity Electric Umbrella, which organises music workshops for individuals with learning disabilities and has been receiving donations from Rickmansworth School.

A group of former school production cast members entertained the audience with a medley of top hits, as well as a rendition of a number from ‘Sister Act’, the school’s upcoming musical.

There was an array of funfair rides including a teacups ride for young children and more exhilarating rides for the more adventurous.

Stalls selling a variety of goods including clothes, crafts, fudge, and tomato plants were set up on the school field, while street food vans provided the crowd with plenty of eating options and the PTA offered sweet treats and warm drinks.

Creative Juices brewery were also present at the event, with their reusable Ricky pint glass scheme, costing £1, recognised as a worthwhile eco initiative.
