Children in Bricket Wood are enjoying their brand new playground after it had a £500,000 refurbishment.
The Woodbury Field play area now includes a ninja warrior course, double cable swing, ball games area, gym equipment for adults and a pump track for BMX bikes.
Residents flocked to the launch recently which saw the village’s postman Mike Izzard, or “Postie Mike”, cut the ribbon to open the new equipment.
St Stephen Parish Council chair David Yates said the new playground was a “tremendous” achievement, adding: “A few years ago, people were commenting on Facebook that Woodbury Field was a depressing and boggy place to take your children to play.
“We had a fantastic response to our efforts to find out what people wanted to see here, and I hope we have met or exceeded people’s expectations.”
The improvements were jointly-funded by developers Linden Homes and Crest Nicholson who are building 129 and 100 new homes in the village respectively.
The works took place in stages since March last year and are part of a five-year plan to improve all six playgrounds managed by St Stephen Parish Council in Chiswell Green, Park Street and Bricket Wood.
