With summer weather finally on its way, here are some great pubs in and around Watford to enjoy a pint in the sun.
Several establishments have revamped their outside areas in the last few weeks as they get ready for a busy summer season.
From suntraps to giant televisions to enjoy the Euros, there is sure to be something for everyone on this list. Check out some options below.
The Oddfellows
The Oddfellows, in Fearnley Street, has revamped its beer garden with new seating, a covered tent and three 65 to 70-inch televisions installed outside.
Operator Thomas Leveridge spent £7,000 on the renovations, telling the Watford Observer: “We have turned this space from a bland grey outside area with no cover, to a stunning, greener garden with big-top stretched tent.”
The Three Crowns
The Three Crowns in High Road, Bushey, is another good option to enjoy a drink while soaking in the sun.
The pub features a large beer garden with benches and recently swapped the marquee for a new pergola, which will provide covered seating on warmer days.
The Moon Under Water
Following a £200,000 extension in 2022, The Moon Under Water now has colourful chairs, plants and covered seating in its garden at the back of the high street pub.
The outside area has space to seat an extra 150 people making it a good option for finding a sunny spot on busy days.
The Victoria Bushey
The Victoria Bushey in Chalk Hill also recently unveiled its revamped decking area at the front of the pub, offering wooden benches with cushions for punters to enjoy as the weather warms up.
Acting bar manager Sonny Mason said: “A lot of people have taken a liking to it. We have cushions out there for when the weather is nice and it's a good area for people to sit down and chill.”
Golden Lion
The Golden Lion is Estcourt Road is another pub with a popular beer garden just a stone’s throw away from the town centre.
One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “Their beer garden/terrace at the rear of the pub is a perfect sun trap and is a nice place to sit and enjoy a pub lunch with a beer or cider.”
