A US chicken chain has had its plans approved as preparations for a Watford opening appear to be in place.
The two-storey former Grounded Kitchen unit at 43 High Street is expected to become home to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen after a planning application to redecorate the storefront with its signs and branding was made.
Watford Borough Council gave consent for the advertising to go up yesterday (June 12).

Confirmation of the decision came one day after Popeyes posted job listings for part-time and full-time staff in Watford.
It is looking for team members to take orders as well as prepare and cook food.
Although the developments point towards the launch being close, the Watford location is not yet listed as “coming soon” on the Popeyes website. The nearest “coming soon” location is in Waterloo, London, which is set to open next Friday.
The unit’s former occupiers, Korean-inspired chain Grounded Kitchen, shut unexpectedly earlier this year less than two years after opening.
Popeyes has been contacted for more information on when it plans to open. The brand is best known for its fried chicken sandwiches and has more than 4,000 restaurants globally.
It opened its first UK branch in late 2021 but is planning to introduce 30 new locations this year.
Fellow US chicken chain Wingstop opened in Market Street in March and UK chain Wingers also launched in the high street at the end of May.
