Do you recognise any of the women in this picture with a group of musicians destined to become the popularly acclaimed greatest rock and roll band of all time?
This extraordinary snap from the Watford Observer archive was taken on October 6, 1964 – the date when the Rolling Stones were in concert at the Gaumont Theatre for one of the last gigs of their fourth British tour.
Load vocalist Mick Jagger, guitarists Keith Richards and the late Brian Jones, bass guitar player Bill Wyman and the band’s drummer, the late Charlie Watts, were pictured on a stairwell with three women, presumably at the theatre in Watford High Street.

The tour took place in between the legendary group’s first two UK No.1’s – It’s All Over Now and Little Red Rooster.
The band are still performing sell-out stadium shows 60 years later and are currently in America on their Hackney Diamonds '24 tour.
