As parents are scratching their heads on how to fill the summer half-term, here are eight great activities for your little ones to check out.

Pupils in Hertfordshire have the week off from May 25 to June 2, with the weather forecast up and down in the next few days with most cloudy weather and pockets of sun forecast.

But there should be something for everyone in this list activities both inside and in the fresh air to try out this week.

Stevens Fun Fair

The popular Stevens Fun Fair is back at its usual spot in Cassiobury Park all this week until Sunday, June 2.

Entrance is free and this year’s edition will see the return of old favourites and as well as recent additions such as Giant Star Flyer, The Extreme, Super Trooper and the new Ice Jet ride.

Gymboree Play and Music

The early years activity company Gymboree Play and Music is offering free sessions for children aged six months to five years all this week.

Parents should head down to Level 1 Queens Car Park from 10.20am to 10.50 each day to take part.

Atria craft activities

Atria Watford is offering free craft activities every day until Friday, May 31, including making emotion puppets and mindfulness scrapbooking.

The sessions are held in Charter Place from 11am to 4pm and no booking is necessary.

Happy Circus

The Happy Circus is coming to the Watford area this half-term as the Friends of Leavesden Green secured a slot at Leavesden Green School on Thursday, May 30, at 2pm.

The event will feature traditional family entertainment in a modern style, and tickets cost £10 each with a £36 family tariff available for two adults and two children.

Escape Rooms

Escape Hunt, at atria Watford, has six options for adventures which are all appropriate for children ages eight upwards, including a samurai-themed story and 'The Curse of the Pharaoh'.

Families with kids spend the day solving the mystery outlaw One Tooth Tex's missing treasure in 'Gold Rush'.

While in 'The Chapel', your team must enter an abandoned chapel and cleanse its evil presence, which is only suitable for children aged 12+.

Morgan & West's Massive Magic Show for Kids

Children's entertainers Rhys Morgan & Robert West are bringing their new magic show to Watford Palace Theatre on Friday, May 31, at 2pm.

Tickets cost £14 for the hour-long “magic filled extravaganza” suitable for children of all ages and are available on the Palace Theatre’s website.

Tales of the River - Wildplay Sessions

Children can learn more about Watford’s history and heritage at these free “Tales of the River Colne Wildplay” sessions in Oxhey Activity Park

Parents can booking  a free tickets for the activities on Wednesday, May 29, via Eventbrite and previous editions have included book making and den building.

Team Sport Karting

An industrial unit just outside Watford, in Greatham Road, Bushey, homes a 500-metre multi-level karting track, with plenty of hairpin turns and challenging ramps for racers to master.
