Solar panels are set to be installed at a Watford leisure centre after it secured a £400,000 investment.
Watford Borough Council has confirmed it was successful in the bid for £403,900 to help support the ongoing running of Woodside Leisure Centre's swimming pool.
The money, from the UK Swimming Pool Support Fund, will be used to install photo-voltaic solar panels and potentially reduce its energy consumption and make estimated annual savings of £31,106 off its bills.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “This is really good news, we have made investing in our leisure centres and caring for the environment a priority.
“The team at Watford council worked hard to secure this funding. The new solar panels will reduce the energy bills for Woodside leisure centre and reduce the carbon emissions of the building too.”
More than 300 facilities with swimming pools received a share of the £60m investment programme. Sport England provided £20m via the National Lottery and the Government allocated just over £40m.
Watford Borough Council associate director of environment and communities Paul Stacey said: “With this funding, we'll make our swimming pools at our leisure centre more sustainable.
“This means lower bills and greener operations, helping us reach the council’s carbon-neutral target by 2030.”
