A popular chippy in Watford town centre is now on the market for someone to take it over.
Ebb Tide chip shop on the corner of Market Street and Merton Road closed at the end of July last year as the building was put up for sale.
The shop floor has remained out of use while the sale, marketed at £695,000, progressed. Now that has completed, the new owner is looking for a tenant to take over operation of the ground floor restaurant, through commercial property agents Perry Holt.

A basement storage area is also included in the lease. The self-contained two-bed flat above the store, with separate access from Merton Road, is not included.
Ebb Tide had been well loved, with an impressive reputation in the town. Its website boasted of winning the Daily Mail’s “Tastiest Fish and Chips in Watford” competition and it held 4.1 stars from 140 Google reviews before closure.
According to the listing, the restaurant still has some of the Ebb Tide equipment left. It would be available to take over for restaurant use at a £18,000 rent.
