A Watford family delivered their verdict after being selected as judges in a TV cooking challenge.
Divya Maru and her family appeared Channel 5’s on Air Fryers vs Microwaves: Which Is Better? at 8pm yesterday (January 3).
Aiming to “crown a new king of the appliances”, the programme looked back on the development and rising popularity of the microwave and air fryer before inviting guests to taste test and use both.

After professional chefs demonstrated what can be cooked, the episode then turns towards “the average British family of four”, in Watford.
The Marus were challenged to cook with only a microwave and air fryer for a week and compare the two.

Mum and home-cook Divya Maru led the family effort, and the quartet finished the week by voting the air fryer as three-to-one winner for the round.
The family were picked as judges partly because of Divya’s TikTok and Instagram accounts @mum_im_hungry, where she showcases many simple dishes that can be cooked in either an air fryer or a microwave.
