A Watford mum’s cooking is set to be put to the test in an unusual TV contest tonight.
Divya Maru will appear on Air Fryers vs Microwaves: Which Is Better? at 8pm (January 3) on Channel 5.
The Watford resident was picked for the show partly due to her TikTok and Instagram accounts @mum_im_hungry, where she showcases many simple dishes that can be cooked in either an air fryer or a microwave.

- 'Travesty' as sewage flowing into our rivers after Storm Henk
- 'Watford line trains could be out-of-action for 24 hours after storm'
Divya described the TV experience as “great fun” and said that she is “really looking forward to seeing the finished show”.
In the episode, the whole family is tasked with cooking for a whole week using only a microwave and air fryer.
“We have been so excited to announce our TV debut”, she added. “They even challenged my husband which is hilarious as he can’t cook.”

The “epic battle” between appliances will apparently be contested over multiple rounds during the broadcast.
It will demonstrate which is the better option for British households to achieve the best speed, convenience, cost, and taste.
The Mum I’m Hungry following has been built since lockdown, when the tutoring business manager decided to improve her (initially not-so-good) cooking skills and share the journey online.
The Instagram account has 11,800 followers while the TikTok page has 6,000.
