A closed pub’s owners have remained tight-lipped over its future after the building was boarded up.
The Estcourt Arms, in St Johns Road, shut down when its landlords left on November 19 and its future remains uncertain.
The next day (November 20), Heineken subsidiary Star Pubs and Bars confirmed that it owns the building but it is leased to an independent company to run as its own business.

That company is responsible for its day-to-day operation and appointing people to manage it. Star Pubs and Bars was therefore “waiting for confirmation of the company’s plans for the pub”.
Almost two weeks later, the windows have been boarded up but there is still no word on what those plans are.
However, Star Pubs and Bars did confirm that it has “made The Estcourt Arms secure while it remains closed", and added that it should be able to share more information from around the end of next week (starting December 4).
When the pub first closed, Star Pubs and Bars said, although it could not provide any information of the reopening of the pub at the time, “we hope that it will open again as soon possible”.
The outgoing licensees had shared that they were leaving due to “situations behind the scenes being out of our hands” and personal reasons that made it “the right time for us to step away from the bar”.
