Fans of a popular restaurant should not expect a new location until next year, the chain has said, despite planning approval.
Nando’s, which has more than 450 UK locations including in Watford town centre, confirmed rumours that it is planning to open a third location in Woodside Leisure Park, in May.
A planning application to split the former Chiquito unit at the leisure park into two units was approved today (September 12) and one part of the divided restaurant is set to become the peri-peri chain's new branch.

According to the application an unnamed business, understood to be Nando’s, was “keen” to take the site over, but thought the space is too large.
However, the Watford Observer can now also reveal that the store is not expected to open this year.
A Nando’s spokesperson said: “We’re due to open our new restaurant in 2024.
“We are still in the early stages of planning, so stay tuned for more details, but we would love to talk to any charities or community groups interested in teaming up with our No Chuckin' Our Chicken food donation and employer initiatives.

The company has been asked for more information on when in 2024 it is expected to open.
