An historic steam train is set to transport Hertfordshire residents to a magical Christmas market this winter.
On Saturday, November 18, the 70000 Britannia will stop at two towns near Watford on its way to York's famous 'St Nicholas Fair'.
The train, which stops at Potters Bar and Hitchin before the journey to York, was the first of 55 Standard class 7 engines to be built in Crewe, by British Railways.
It was completed in January 1951, and was built specifically for express passenger services between London and Norwich.
Perhaps most importantly, the Britannia hauled The Royal Train from Preston to Wakefield in January 2012.
The Steam Dreams website states: "Explore the quaint cobbled streets of York which offer something for everyone.
"The stunning Minster with its renowned Rose window is a must-see for any new visitor to York.
"A fabulous day out Christmas shopping in style at the wonderful York 'St Nicholas Fair', awaits passengers in York.
"This hugely popular Christmas Market will see charming alpine chalets return to the city centre with local businesses selling everything from handmade gifts to delicious treats."
