Following 20 years of near neglect a 120-year-old station has been lovingly restored with an Edwardian inspired tea room taking pride of place.

The Tea Room at Bricket Wood Station opened its doors on Wednesday, August 2.

Customers will be able to enjoy tea, coffee, pastries, homemade cakes and lunches with may products locally sourced.

It is part of a larger six-year restoration project of the train station that caters for the Abbey Line where trains travel to and from St Albans and Watford.

The Bricket Wood Station Heritage Trust said it strived to honour the 1903 character of the building.

The trust said it had always planned to try and keep as many original features as possible when it decided to restore the Edwardian train station.

Inside the building where the team room is housed the interior was largely destroyed by a fire in the 70s.

But the structure was sound and watertight, and the trust set about making the team room the core of the project to help provide income to sustain the building in the long term.

Due to holidays, The Tea Room will be closed temporarily from the end of Friday, August 11, reopening again on Wednesday, August 30.
