Barrio in Watford was “doomed to failure from the start”, locals have claimed, after its closure was announced.
The Latin-inspired bar opened at the end of October 2022, but owners Nightcap confirmed it shut nine months later in June for the summer.
A spokesperson said the bar is "taking some time to evolve our offer", but declined to confirm whether it could reopen or not in its current guise.
Reaction to the closure has flooded social media, with several people saying they were unsurprised.

One wrote: “Their prices on their drinks and menu were too high. It was doomed to failure from the start.”
The cost gripe resonated with numerous people, with the bar described as “too poncey", "expensive", "overpriced" and "overrated”.
One person said: “Glad that people weren't prepared to pay exorbitant prices for drinks so voted with their feet.”
While another added: “It was absolutely horrendous to say the least. Prices, vibe, music - dead!”

“Walked in once, saw prices and walked back out,” explained one man.
The bar replaced former favourite Bosleys, and it seems people still miss the old haunt as several called for it to be brought back.
Nightcap’s chief executive, Sarah Willingham, said: “In the past nine months we have gained a greater understanding of the vibe of the town and are now taking some time to evolve our offer to serve the needs of local customers.
“We look forward to updating everyone on what's next for the location."
When the Watford Observer asked for clarification if Barrio could reopen, or if the company is looking to run something else in the spot, it would not comment any further.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said that despite closure, the town has low vacancy rates, footfall remains high, and it has a Purple Flag accreditation for its night-time economy.
He added: “I am hopeful that this prime site, at the heart of our town centre, will soon become a new venue that will contribute to Watford's vibrant business landscape.”
A spokesperson for Watford BID, which first confirmed the closure, said it was a “shame to see Barrio leaving” having replaced Bosleys with a relatively quick turnaround.
“We hope that a new business will be able to take the fantastic space in an equally swift manner,” they said.
