The unclear future facing a large bar and restaurant has again highlighted the economic challenges the sector continues to face and how our high streets are constantly evolving.

The Watford Observer reported yesterday how Barrio in the Parade shut last month just nine months after it opened.

Sarah Willingham, chief executive of owners Nightcap plc, has since confirmed the Latin-inspired bar is closed for the summer and the company "look forward to updating everyone on what's next for the location."

Barrio replaced Bosleys which in turn had taken over the venue previously occupied by Yates.

That pub was one of ten bars and clubs snapped by a Watford Observer photographer in March 2006, all of which have since closed, changed ownership or been renamed.
