Sunday saw “numerous” helicopters fly over Watford and there are multiple reasons locals may have seen one.

The town surrounding areas is often on the route for helicopter journeys in and out of London but the weekend featured a glut of choppers, sparking shock at the number and complaints over the noise from locals.

The most likely reason for a sighting is probably the F1 at Silverstone, near Milton Keynes, as the track offers permanent helipads for twin engine helicopters to use.

Airborne taxis are available to take fans with plenty of spare cash to the event, often from London’s airports and heliports.

Secondly, parkgoers may have spotted a helicopter circling over Cassiobury Park at around 4pm.

This related to a search for a missing woman, who police confirmed was found later that day.

Also putting on a show was Centurion Golf Club, near Hemel Hempstead, which had the final day of its LIV Golf London tournament.

The controversial series is known for its level of spectacle and has involved air shows visible from Abbots Langley at previous centurion events.

Golfers, including Ian Poulter, have been known to take helicopters to the course to beat the traffic.
