A popular bakery chain is heading to a high street location to the delight of locals.
Gail’s will be opening in the former Costa Coffee shop in Conway House, Watling Street, Radlett.
The bakers, which already have a branch in St Albans, told the Watford Observer the new store will be opening this year.
- Boots plans to merge stores in close proximity
- Fire at listed building takes six hours and 13 engines to tackle
It comes after a planning application was submitted to alter the shop frontage to include the Gail’s sign and for it to be an “illuminated fascia sign”.
When a picture of the store with Gail’s posters in the shop window was shared online, most people were pleased with the announcement.
One person said: “Fantastic!! Great news for the high St! Love their sourdough!”
Others said it was “amazing” and “great news”.
However, one person was not so sure. They said: “I quite like Gail's but I can't help feeling sad that it's another chain with no vested interest in our village.”
